Toothbrush Types
By 2016 the International Toothbrush Collection was using more than 80 terms to describe types of toothbrushes. In addition to toothbrush types, there are also terms that describe the end user’s targeted age, bristle materials, handle materials, and packaging terms.

The Toothbrush, a relatively simple concept, exists in many forms. For ease, toothbrushes are indexed rather than classified due to considerable overlap of types. ITC has been unable to definitively classify toothbrush head, neck, handle, and thumb grip variations. While these distinctions are usually subtle, they reveal the extraordinary lengths to which humans will go in search of better solutions to practical problems. Perhaps humans have a natural tendency toward invention and design. Input as to typological distinctions of these design features are always welcome.
